Christmas Day
Netflix will stream two of the NFL games that take place on Christmas Day, and the third will stream on Amazon Prime. It will be interesting to see whether football fans embrace major holiday football moving to streaming platforms. Viewers of the cities where the competing teams will play can watch on local TV.
This will be the sixth consecutive season where NFL games will take place on Christmas Day, and they have become a staple of the season. Divisional rivals will play against each other in these three games.
Dallas Cowboys versus Washington Commanders
The first game features NFC East rivals, Dallas and Washington, and you can watch it on Netflix at 1 pm ET. The game will take place at Northwest Stadium in Maryland. US sports betting is legal in many states, and sports bettors will enjoy placing their bets on these Christmas Day games. They will be keeping their eyes on the latest NFL odds. The Commanders are new to playing on Christmas Day, while the Cowboys have the advantage of having played five games in the past on Christmas Day.
This season has been a disappointing one for the Commanders after the success of the previous season with Jayden Daniels as Defensive Rookie of the Year. The team has been plagued by injuries, but it has turned things around and is in the mix in the NFC playoffs.
The Dallas Cowboys have been dominant in the rivalry over the years, but this season hasn’t been a success for them. They lost to the Lions in Week 14, which wasn’t good for their playoff hopes. They are still in the fight and winning their games against the Chargers and the Vikings before Christmas will be their goal.
Minnesota Vikings versus Detroit Lions
This clash of the two NFC North teams will take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The game will be streamed on Netflix at 4:30 pm ET. Football viewership in the US on Christmas Day is usually very high. On Netflix, the 2024 Christmas Day games averaged over 30 million global viewers. It was also Netflix’s most-watched Christmas Day ever in the U.S.
After a successful 2024, this season hasn’t been a good one for the Vikings, and the team has a 4-8 record going into December. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s first season as a starter hasn’t been easy. The game doesn’t have any playoff implications for the Vikings, but it will be another test for McCarthy before going into the franchise’s off-season.
The Lions still have to play against the Rams and the Steelers before Christmas Day. Their performance in these games could clarify whether the Lions will make it into the playoffs.
Kansas City Chiefs versus Denver Broncos
The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Broncos, and you can watch on Amazon Prime Video at 8:20 pm ET. This time, Kansas City will host the Broncos on home ground.
The Chiefs came off a Super Bowl win in 2024 and a runner-up finish in 2025 and in this season they have experienced some negative consequences. Their domination of the AFC West with nine division titles in succession feels like it’s starting to slip away. A loss to the Texans in Week 14 didn’t help and they managed to drop four of their last five games. They won’t be going into the game feeling that confident, especially because the Broncos have been performing so well.
Those with knowledge about the game believe the Broncos could get to the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They haven’t managed to pull this off since 2015. The team is at the top of the division entering December and defeated the Chiefs in November. It took care of business all through the season and won nine games in succession heading into Week 15. More clarity could come by the end of the game on Christmas Day.
